Lunch and Learn Session

TOPIC: The Indian Act and Gender Discrimination
For over a century, the Indian Act has institutionalized gender discrimination, directly impacting access to Treaty and other Indigenous rights for First Nations women across Canada. The legacy of an imposed patriarchal structure and gender discrimination continues to be felt in First Nations communities to this day. In her presentation, Andrea will review that history and speak to the legislative, social and cultural consequences we are still working through in Canada.
