Treaty Elders’ Teaching Series

The Treaty Elders’ Teachings Series contains four volumes of oral history from Anishinaabek, Anish-Ininiwak, Dakota, Dene, Ininiwak, and Nehethowuk Elders.

The volumes contain transcriptions of interviews in the original languages as well as the English translations. The Elders share their stories and teachings about their identity as peoples, the land, relationship with newcomers, and the Treaties.

The project was created to help educate the general public on the Elders’ perspectives of the Treaties and the history of First Nation peoples. The volumes include:
